Good Shepherd Lutheran

Christ-Centered Education
Good Shepherd exists to provide excellence in education so that each student is prepared to succeed in their earthly life and to provide Christian truths so that each student is well prepared for their eternal life. It is our mission to reach out with the gospel to the world, but especially in Cedar Rapids and the Corridor.
  1. Jesus died for all that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for all and was raised again.
    2 Corinthians 5:15
  2. Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
    Luke 18:16
We hold to the belief that the Bible is the Lord's true and unerring word. As such our entire school centers around the Lord's word in discipline and instruction. We are part of the WELS synod and would be happy to answer your questions and get you in contact with our pastor in order to learn more.
Vision Statements:
Provide Excellence in Education: Good Shepherd Lutheran School seeks to provide excellence in education by providing an environment conducive for learning.  Good Shepherd Lutheran School will meet and/or exceed all common core standards.
     - “for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight; for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair; for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young.” (Proverbs 1:2-4)
     - Our students will be provided an environment conducive to learning through small class sizes, a qualified teacher, an active engagement in learning, a wealth of classroom tools, and active parental involvement.”Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.

Provide Christian Truths: Jesus Christ, the solid rock, is the foundation of all we believe and teach.
     - “My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heartand united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mysteryof God, namely, Christ” (Colossians 2:2)
     - Good Shepherd Lutheran School will assist parents with their God given responsibility to bring their children up in God’s word. “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4)
     - Good Shepherd Lutheran School will present all teachings of the Bible as God’s inerrant word. “You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.” (Titus 2:1)
     - “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16)

Prepare Students for Eternal Life: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him   shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
     - Our students will confess their sin and be assured of God’s grace in Christ, as both the law and the gospel are clearly presented to them in God’s Word.“…The Holy Scriptures…are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:15)
     - “Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly for physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come” (1 Timothy 4:7-8)
     - Our students will be taught that the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ our Savior. “…..I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me(John 14:6)
